Loveland real estate agents at Orchard Summer Fest

August 30th, 2010

August 21, 2010
Recently, Keller Williams real estate agents participated in an event at The Orchards Athletic Club in Loveland. Nearly 40 clubs and businesses presented their wares and offered their services with outside and inside booths.
Loveland KW was the only real estate agency at the event and literally ‘ballooned the whole place’. Using red Keller Williams balloons, we fastened them to many vendor’s tables and doorways. One persons comment was ‘This looks like a Keller Williams sponsored event!’ We thank Orchards Athletic Club or their help in making this possible.
Twice every hour, the MC/DJ announced with a booming voice ‘Keller Williams is giving away another gift certificate to………. Hurry over and sign up for the drawing!’ Gift certificates were given for Ace Hardware, Baskin Robbins, King Sooper’s and Padre’s Mexican food Restaurant.
The Keller Williams agents involved, Connie Troncoso, Rebecca Fishkin, Renee Salza, Julio Cardenas, Angie Hinojos and Bill Ruhl donated their time, energy, resources and positive, refreshing attitudes to contribute together making a very successful afternoon for all of KW Northern Colo.
There was a lot of positive interaction with the community and the Loveland real estate crew was very, very visible in the midst. People want professionals that they can relate to. Let’s take every opportunity we can to show the community that this is who we at Keller Williams truly are! Special thanks go to Cathy Ruhl who conceived and piloted our booth in the event to all of our benefit.

Why real estate doesn’t need the tax credit anymore

August 11th, 2010

In real estate news, the tax credit has been overwhelming the top headlines. Recently, the credit ended. The deadline for under contract was the end of April 2010 and the closing deadline ended at the end of June. Congress has been working on getting this extension approved. There is still a good chance that the extension for closing will happen.

The thing is – we don’t need it. Here’s why: interest rates have been climbing down since the credit ended. Not only have they come down, they’ve come down far enough to offset loan payments and capital enough to cover the $8,000 that the tax credit offered.

When the credit ended in April, the interest on a 30 year fixed rate loan was 5.125% APR. As of July 19th, it is 4.375% APR. Given a home with a price of $180,000 and the owner holding the property for 7 years, $6,048 will be saved over that time and $2,186 more will be put towards the principal.

So the owner will be paying less each month and more of each payment will be going towards the principal of the loan. The total is $8,234. This is actually more than the tax credit and it doesn’t hurt our national debt!

Special thanks to Jennifer Higgerson and Ed Hermsen

Real Estate Agent Agi Donahue in the annual Avon walk

July 26th, 2010

This past June 25th and 26th, our rock star real estate agent Agi Donahue completed her 3rd Avon Walk!
The Avon Walk is a very long walk to raise money for breast cancer research. The walk averages 40 miles over a couple of days.
This year, organizers decided to make the trip from Keystone to Breckenridge in the high country. Day one covered 26 miles before an overnight camp. Agi comments, “Camping out in Keystone was soooooooo cold, but the walk absolutely beautiful.”
Day two covered the remaining 14 miles into Breckenridge. When the day was done, over 1100 people raised $2.6 million for the charity from this single event! Out of the 1100+ participants, Agi placed 14th!
