Part 2 – Buying a home: Communicate needs

December 7th, 2009

Communication, when done well, is a very powerful thing. Most people don’t want to do it. They don’t want to give too much away and risk being hurt or harmed.
In real estate, it is absolutely essential that we communicate as much as possible about our needs and desires to our agent. Once we have established that we have a great agent, we owe it to them to be as transparent as we can.
A real estate agent’s job is to take a client’s needs and wants in a home, find homes that work, and assist their clients in their quest to own one.
As you can see, it is pretty simple here. If you take away communication, there can be no end goal. The lack of clear communication will create dubious headaches for everyone involved. Clear communication opens things for the end goal to be easily attainable.
So many people that I have met in this industry have underestimated this at some point so I cannot overemphasize it. Talk to your agent. Tell them about your kids and dogs and cars and dreams and anything else that might be relevant. Your agent is there to work for you. So, in working for you, it is in your best interests to educate them as much as possible.
